Wu Tao

Wu Toa - Eltham.jpg

Wu Tao is a beautiful dance and exercise program with its roots in traditional Chinese medicine.

At its core are five simple dances which correspond to the five seasons of the Chinese calendar year. These dances work on stimulating the flow of qi [life force energy] through the meridians [energy pathways] in the body and creating balance between yin and yang energy.

Each dance relates to the energy of a particular season and, once learnt, these complete the cycle of the year to make a satisfying workout, leaving one energized, yet balanced and peaceful.

It was created by dancer and oriental medicine expert Michelle Locke in Western Australia in 2000. Since then it has travelled far and wide and is now taught in many parts of the world.

No dance experience is needed to practice Wu Tao – it is for everyone and is enjoyed by dancers and non-dancers alike.

This activity is held at Eltham Living & Learning Hub and is open to people 18 years and over.
