This course is ideal for people looking to enhance their job prospects in hospitality in venues such as cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, function and event venues where making coffee is required.
The course consists of 25 hours of face-to-face sessions over 4 days with a mixture of both theoretical and practical, hands-on learning. Once all assessments have been completed you will be awarded your accredited certificate.
This course consists of the teaching and assessment of the below two modules.
• SITXFSA005 - Use hygienic practices for food safety (5 hrs) This module is a prerequisite for the below module and must be completed prior. This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use personal hygiene practices to prevent contamination of food that might cause food-borne illnesses.
Please note: The first 5 hours of the course will be dedicated to teaching and assessing this module so participants can move on to complete their accreditation.
• SITHFAB025 - Prepare and serve espresso coffee (20 hrs) This practical, industry-focused course equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to craft exceptional espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders. You’ll learn to advise customers on coffee choices, select and grind beans to perfection, extract and assess espresso quality, and maintain your equipment to professional standards. Whether you are starting your barista journey or looking to sharpen your skills, this course prepares you to deliver outstanding coffee every time.
