This nationally accredited course provides you with the knowledge and training to provide first aid care including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adults and children when they are ill or injured. 

 

Description

This course is open for ages 15-25 only. 

This course provides you with the knowledge and training to provide provide first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adults and children in situations of illness or injury.

It increases your confidence and equips you with the skills to take control in emergencies and provide immediate help to a patient until paramedics arrive.

You will learn how to manage a cardiac arrest, perform CPR at the correct rate, and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and treat a number of conditions including:.

  • asthma
  • anaphylaxis
  • bleeding
  • choking
  • snake and spider bite
  • fractures, sprains and strains
  • shock This will ensure you can provide the patient with the best opportunity for survival.

You will also participate in a post-incident debrief and provide verbal reports to paramedics.

These skills are applicable in workplaces, homes, and community settings and they assist in meeting workplace safety compliance.

The Australian Resuscitation Council advises that you should update this course every 12 months.

The Code of Practice: First aid in the workplace advises that you should update this course every 3 year to maintain currency

Award Issued: Upon successful completion of both the theoretical and practical assessments for this nationally recognised training, students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for:

  • HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 - Provide first aid

Course Delivery: This course utilises a Mixed Mode format and requires the following:

Online Learning Module: Approximately 2-3 hours to complete prior to training. Face-to-Face Practical Assessment: Approximately 6 hours.

Assessments: Submitted through 1SDO's online learning portal. Learning Materials: Provided via 1SDO's online learning portal. Equipment: Provided for all practical assessments.

Special Requirements:

  • Perform CPR on adult and infant mannequins for at least 2 minutes each (physical activity).
  • Ability to kneel on the floor for extended periods is required. If unable to do so, you may not be able to complete the course.
  • Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the activities.

Learner Requirements: To complete this course, you will need:

  • A computer or laptop with internet access.
  • A web browser (like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge).
  • A valid personal email address (shared addresses are not allowed). If you don't have one, consider creating a free Gmail account.

Fees

Fee paying: $110 enrolment fee

Concession: $100 for concession card holders.

  • Commonwealth Health Care Card
  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Veterans Gold Card.
