Pottery for beginners - wheel
This course is perfect for beginners, no previous experience is required or expected. Open to people aged 18 years and over.
Learn basic wheel throwing, decorating and glazing skills.
Through the five weekly sessions, we will work through the basics of creating pottery pieces on the wheel.
Starting by centering the clay, then moving onto throwing cylinders then making bowl or cup shaped forms. Then we will go on the finish the pieces, trimming them and decorating them with decorative techniques and underglazes.
In the final week, the student will be introduced to a selection of glazes to finish off the pieces.
Three to four weeks after the course is complete, you will be able to collect your completed pieces from the studio and take them home and use them.
Each class will have a maximum of 7 students.
The cost of this course includes clay, use of wheel and tools, firing, and all materials for decorating and glazing.
Term 2 booking opens 9am Monday 24 March
Activities start from 28 April. (Please note this is one week later than the Victorian school term.)
