Pottery for beginners - hand building

This is the perfect class for a beginner with no previous experience required or expected.  This course is open to people aged 18 years and over.

Get creative by hand building practical and usable pieces of art.

Through this five week course, your tutor will take you through the basics of hand building with skills including making pinch pots, coiling, press moulds, slab building, surface decoration and glazing.

We will work through multiple techniques to create a range of forms, from functional to sculptural. We will explore different decorative techniques including stamping, scratching and sgraffito, just to name a few.

Each class will have a maximum of 7 students. At the completion of the course students will have their own decorated and glazed work to take home and use. The cost of this course includes of clay, use of wheel and tools, firing, and all materials for decorating and glazing.

This activity is held at Eltham Living & Learning Hub.
