Learn the basics of getting to know your sewing machine and getting started on easy sewing projects. This course is open to people aged 18 years and over.

In this course you will learn how to get ready to sew and prepare your kit. You will develop skills in sewing accurately, develop an understanding of how to follow a pattern and choose fabrics that are suitable for your sewing task. There will also be a focus on repurposing what you already have and doing basic repairs yourself. The goal at the end of the 8 weeks will be to complete at least two simple finished projects.

What to bring

  • sewing machine in good working order (including the instruction book and toolbox with all feet and tools)
  • sharp scissors (for cutting fabric)
  • small scissors ( for cutting thread)
  • un-pickers/ seam-ripper tool
  • thread
  • empty bobbin to fir your sewing machine
  • notebook and pen

Please note

We do our best to avoid changes to scheduled courses. However, we recommend buying materials/equipment no more than five days prior to the start of the course to avoid expense in the case of cancellation.
