Arts for health

Increase mental health, well-being, confidence and social connection through art. Two groups are scheduled: a men's group and a women's group.

Art for kids

Enabling children to develop their natural curiosity, imagination and enthusiasm for art. Tuesday and Thursday after-school classes available. 

Art for teenagers

A fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere where teens can create within a group of peers with similar interests to their own.  Tuesday and Thursday after-school classes available. 

Botanical illustration

Focus on flowers, fruits and plant features - for beginners or those with experience.

Exploring art styles and mediums

Discover your medium and your style - whether traditional or contemporary. A new evening class has been scheduled for Term 1. 

Japanese ink art

Create traditional Japanese sumie ink paintings and calligraphy on washi paper. Choose a beginners workshop or an "ongoing" workshop if you have done one of Junko's classes before.

Leadlight and glass art for beginners & beyond 

 Learn the beautiful art of leadlighting and working with glass. A daytime and an evening class scheduled.

Learn to draw realistically

A structured course with local artist Lisa Nolan.

Life drawing co-op

Join a relaxed, friendly group of artists for regular sessions working with a life model.  Two groups - Monday morning and Thursday evening.

Little Picasso's

For children aged 3-5 years. Painting, drawing and pastel skills woven into fun and exciting classes. 

Mosaics introduction

Workshops for beginners and MakerSpaces to continue after catching the 'mosaic bug' from our experienced tutors. 

Pottery for beginners and beyond 

Learn basic throwing, hand-building, glazing and decorating skills with our very knowledgeable tutors. We have evening classes on Tuesday and Wednesday and a morning class on Wednesday.

Watercolour painting

This short course covers different aspects of the medium, building skills and improving technique in the process. Saturday mornings.

Join this established group for a 2 hour session to continue developing your writing style.

Creative writing - beginners

Learn to capture your thoughts, personal history or imagination on paper.  Learn about different writing genres and even a little grammar too.

Got a great idea but no funding to make it happen?  Shape your 'elevator pitch' and learn the art of writing successful grant submissions from someone who understands both sides of the process.

A fun day (and night) of demonstrations, craft and show-and-tell. Bring your own project and have some uninterrupted ‘you’ time.

Learn about this amazing instrument through hands on play with a PVC pipe.  Find out if it is really possible to circular breathe.  Learn the basic sounds and how you make them with a little bit of cultural history thrown in.

Come along and get your hands dirty in the Eltham centre community organic vegie garden. Thursday mornings.

Introduction to horticulture

This 9-week short course will give you a taste of what it’s like to work in the horticulture industry, and pathways for further study. 

Decluttering - make space to grow your dreams

Start a fresh or renew your home.  Transform it into something pleases your eyes, your heart and your hip pocket.  Learn how to bring your ideas together to create a place that is great to come home to.

Flower arranging

Learn some floristry basics, tips and tricks to bring garden foliage inside the house or share what you grow with others.

Indian cooking - Punjabi

Learn how to cook a healthy North West Indian vegetarian meal from scratch using authentic ingredients. Enjoy eating what has been made after at the end of the session or take it home for your next main meal.

Mexican cooking

Learn how to cook traditional Mexican dishes and learn more about Mexican cuisine at these hands on workshops. 

Learn how to make your sourdough bread.  Understand what is possible and how the sourdough process works.  Take home a starter culture to continue exploring at home.

 

Languages

Auslan - sign language

Learn to communicate with those who are deaf using Auslan, Australian sign language.  Practice and apply your knowledge a work or at home.

Italian

Start your Italian language journey as a level 1 beginner or continue on with levels 2-4 all the way through to our Italian Amici group.

German

Learn from scratch or brush up on your German language skills.  Games, and activities are used to help you learn in a fun and social environment.

Spanish

Explore vocabulary, grammar, culture and expression in a fun and friendly environment. Tuesday evenings.

MakerSpaces are creative, social spaces, where people share their passion for their art or craft, learn from each other and connect.

Knit, sew, crochet, patchwork or chat.  This group is filled with various yarn and fabric crafters.

Create beautiful items for gifts and home decoration while chatting and being inspired by other Christmas crafters in this group.

Share skills and ideas whilst working independently in our well-equipped, light-filled studios.

Mosaics MakerSpace

Design and develop practical and decorative mosaic creations in a social environment.

This group of avid sewers meet on a monthly basis to be inspired, complete their sewing projects and learn new skills.  The group have made anything from toys, tailored shirts, kids clothes, lined coats and even doona covers.

Upcycle Makerspace

Op shop with a purpose and be inspired by the ideas of others.  Join a group of like minded locals who love to reuse, repurpose and upcycle using things around the house, curbside shopping or amazing op shop finds.

Knitting, crochet and any yarn & needle projects.  Have a yarn while you create, beginners most welcome.

Be Connected - Steps internet for seniors

Be Connected is a program funded by the government through the the Good Things Foundation. The centre computers and our volunteer tutors provide a friendly environment where you can come and learn basic computer and internet skills to explore information on the world wide web and how to stay in touch with family and friends online. 

Casual internet access for over 50s

The 'Be Connected' lounge at the Panton Hill Centre is open for anyone who would like to come and use our large screen computers Monday - Thursday mornings from 9am-1pm

These one off small group workshops will help you find out more about everything from file manager to sorting photos and more.

iMovie for seniors

Make sharing your latest holiday snaps with friends and family. Make a mini movie by adding music or text to a still photo or video compilation.

Art for kids

Come 'n' Try kids

Get your primary school aged kids off their gadgets and trying something new.  Our list of come 'n' try activities will grow at the start of each term.  Book in for one or book for them all.

Cooking for kids

Help the kids to improve their culinary skills and learn good food hygiene habits while creating healthy after school snacks. Savory and sweet meals will also be on the menu for some courses.

German playgroup

Structured and free play for toddlers while you coffee, chat and facilitate their learning in a German speaking environment

Guitar for kids

Get the kids started on guitar.  Our volunteer tutor will help them to learn easy chords and strumming patterns.

A fun, four-workshop program culminating in a mini-concert for family and friends.
