4-5 year old pre-schoolers and families are invited to join local children’s author Penny Harrison for a special nature story time to celebrate Neighbourhood House Week. You'll hunt for small treasures in the garden and craft a cute selection of creepie crawlies.

Parents are required to supervise their children at all times.

This is a free Neighbourhood House Week activity.

Everyone is welcome! Please register to let us know you’re coming.

About Penny

Penny Harrison is a children's author, book reviewer and lifestyle journalist. Her latest book is called The Little Coven, which is about spells and friendship and nature. A professional writer for more than 20 years, she has contributed to a variety of leading magazines, newspapers, guides and books, writing about everything from raising toddlers to raising chickens.

Penny grew up on a farm in central-western NSW and spent her days exploring the bush with her four brothers and sisters. Nowadays, she lives in a rambling old garden on the edge of the Yarra Valley with her husband, two children and an ever-growing collection of books, plants and pets.

About Neighbourhood House Week

Neighbourhood House Week is an annual national celebration recognising the important contribution Neighbourhood Houses make in local communities across Australia.

This year it will run from 13 – 19 May, and we will be celebrating with activities such as special workshops, guest speakers and free activities.

Did you know? There are over 1,000 Neighbourhood Houses across Australia, and more than 400 of them are in Victoria. Neighbourhood Houses are also called Neighbourhood Centres, Community Houses, Living & Learning Centres, Community Hubs and more.
