The Clay taster workshop is a relaxed and fun way to learn the basic skills of throwing on the wheel and glazing a pot. This is a great opportunity if you have never sat at a potter’s wheel before and you would like to give it a go.
During the first session you will be given a quick tour of the clay studio in order to gain a basic understanding of the process for making pottery. You will then learn how to prepare your clay, centre it on the wheel and the basic steps for making a plate, bowl and mug. You will make a maximum of three pieces.
Four weeks later in the second session you will learn how to glaze your work. This will then be fired and you will be emailed when your work is ready for collection at the studio.
Studio pottery tools will be available for use and clay will be provided.
This activity is held at Eltham Living & Learning Hub and is open to people aged 18 years and over.
