Japanese ink art intermediate (one-off)

Create traditional Japanese sumi-e ink paintings and calligraphy on washi paper.

This class is for those who have completed the beginners’ class.

Traditional Japanese calligraphy and sumi-e painting artists are able to paint expressive poetry and vivid scenes of nature using only the various tones of black sumi-e ink and brush techniques.

Learn to make and use different sumi-e ink tones and brush techniques to create traditional Japanese ink paintings and calligraphy on washi paper made from the mulberry as well as learning about the history of Japanese calligraphy and sumi-e. 

This activity is held at Eltham Living & Learning Hub and is open to people 18 years and over.
