In response to the Victorian government’s recent decision to extend the State of Emergency till 11:59pm on 19 July, Living & Learning is finalising, in liaison with Nillumbik Shire Council our Term 3 planning. The safety of our participants and staff is our top priority and as we are a Registered Training Organisation, Learn Local and Neighbourhood House, it is imperative that we adhere to all DHHS specific guidelines associated with training delivery and community programs.

Over the last few weeks we have been working closely with the Risk and Safety team at Council to ensure all our sites meet the hygiene standards and guidelines. One of the major considerations in our planning is to be able to set-up all learning spaces to not only adhere to the maximum of 20 persons in a given space, but also ensure that the four square meter physical distancing rule is met. Detailed Safe Work Instructions have been developed for each space, taking into consideration cleaning specifications, recordkeeping and site supervision and support.

In order to comply with all the above requirements, we’ll continue to follow a staged approach to reopening. Although we would have loved to have all of our participants back on site at the start of Term 3, we now have to postpone and/or cancel a number of sessions until further notice.

Please find below our updated approach to reopening our sites and resuming programs:

Current stage

  • Blended training delivery for accredited programs, which include some face to face sessions being delivered.
  • Majority of staff are working from home
  • Customer support services are available via email or phone.
  • General public enrolments for a limited number of Community Programs will open on Monday, 29 June. Spaces are available in: Arts for health, Italian, Computer skills update, Photobooks and canvases, Mailchimp online, Sourdough introduction online.

Next stage (as of 13 July 2020)

  • Face to face delivery for accredited programs resumes at Eltham and Edendale.
  • Selected daytime programs and MakerSpaces to resume (Mondays – Fridays between 9am and 5pm). Confirmation communication will be emailed to the selected programs regarding recommencement dates and safety guidelines.
  • No out-of-hours programs will operate at this stage. Please note that all participants who are already enrolled in these programs will be contacted by one of our Customer Support team members to discuss refund/credit note options.
  • No venue hire available
  • Customer support services are available via email or phone.
  • No public access to offices, kitchen facilities or other shared spaces

Future stages will include the resumption of out-of-hours programs (sessions), room hire, as well as the reopening of Reception and other shared spaces.

Thank you again for your understanding and ongoing support.  Please keep following us on Facebook and Instagram as we’ll also be sharing all updates through that.
