Create a Habitat Garden
Learn how to create a bio-diverse habitat garden to support your local wildlife.
Description
Participants will learn about:
- elements that support nesting and shelter
- selecting plants as a food source and succession planting
- the importance of incorporating water into the garden
- the effect chemical sprays and poison baits have on wildlife
- protecting plants/trees whilst minimising harm to birds and other mammals
All participants will take home a plant to get their habitat garden started.
This workshop is open to people aged 15 years and over. No previous gardening knowledge required.

About the Tutor
Melissa Houselander is a qualified Horticulturist, with experience and passion for social and therapeutic horticulture, native gardens and tending her own orchard, large vegetable patch and keeping chickens.
Melissa is a local, and runs her own business providing horticultural services, sustainable landscape design and is a Tutor of Horticulture.
