Pottery for kids

Cozy up this winter in Melbourne with the comfort and light of your own handcrafted luminary. A luminary is a beautiful way to show off your design when lit with a tea-light. (A battery operated tea-light should be used by children).  Your teacher, Kelly, will demonstrate making a Fairy House Luminary. You will start with a pinch pot or slab pot created during the class. You'll then carve and pierce your work to create a ceramic candle-holder (luminary). These will be glazed inside and out with a simple white glaze, creating a heat-safe piece that comes alive with a warm glow when lit. Pieces will be fired in the kiln for collecting approximately two weeks after the school holidays.

This workshop is open to people aged 8-12 yrs. If you are under 18 years, the Child Parental Consent section of the enrolment form must be completed prior to the first session.

Participants have the opportunity to exhibit in our end of year diversARTy exhibition at Eltham Library Gallery to celebrate their achievements with friends and family.
