Carer Support Drop-in Sessions

The Carers Hub have teamed up with Different Journeys to hold fortnightly drop in sessions in Eltham for carers to come and talk to a Carer Peer Support Worker about their own situation and what supports are available for them.

You do not need to register for these sessions, please just come along. 

Megan, Carer Support Worker says "My role as a Peer Support Officer is to connect with people who care for someone. These people are either not connected to services or don’t know how to connect with services. They also don’t know what services and supports to connect with.

There is so much information out there, carers don’t always know where to start and sometimes, just having an informal conversation with someone about what is going on in their lives, they are able to retain information more readily. I will be using my life experiences, my knowledge and my extensive network of others who have also been on this journey of knowing what services and supports they can ask for and how to ask for them."

Different Journeys

Different Journeys is funded to support carers and parents of autistic individuals. We create non-judgemental spaces, either online or face to face, for carers of all ages to link with other carers in similar circumstances. We replace isolation and judgement with a supportive community. Our individualised, wrap-around support programs aim to decrease the prevalence of mental illness and social isolation in the carer community. And we seek to enhance carers’ employment and education opportunities. 

The Different Journeys peer support drop-in sessions are for parents and carers of people with autism and disability of all types.
