Daily Grind: Youth employment program

Living & Learning Nillumbik have partnered with Nillumbik Youth to bring you the Daily Grind, a 10 week program to help young people aged 16-24 upskill and find employment in the hospitality industry.
This program will cover the basics of hospitality including:
  • Customer service and point of sale
  • Safety at work
  • Basic food handling and safety
  • Using a coffee machine and barista training
  • How to wait table and serve dishes
Each participant will also undertake a 5 week placement at the Diamond Creek Rotary Tram Café, putting their knowledge to the test in a practical hospitality setting.
The Daily Grind will run from 7 February until the 25 March 2022.

Thursday 10 Feb 10am-3pm
Monday 14 Feb 10am-3pm
Thursday 17 Feb 10am-3pm
Thursday 24 Feb - 10am-3pm

Placement - dates to be finalised between 28 Feb-25 March 

Location: this course is held at our Eltham centre - 739 Main Road

Cost: $50 enrolment fee for eligible fully-funded participants ($20 for concession card holders)
